Why You Should Adopt Less Adoptable Pets

This post is about animal adoption. As most of you know, it's something that means a lot to me. This week, Blogpaws and Petfinder are hoping to get the word out about less adoptable pets. What's that you ask? Basically, it's a pet who has a hard time being adopted. They are older (since most people prefer kittens and puppies), can only be in a home without other pets or children, or may have some behavioural problems due to how they were treated previously.

If you're considering getting a new pet, please consider adoption. If you have the time and energy, consider a less adoptable pet. My own beloved Phoebe would have been classified as less adoptable, but I really can't imagine what my life would have been without her. Spike, aka CrazyCat is a handful as well but he always makes me smile with his antics. Black cats and dogs are less adoptable than lighter colours. This is bizarre, but it's true. Please consider this when you adopt. There are so many animals in need, they're just waiting for you to love them.

You can find pets in your local shelter by searching Petfinder.  You can also see a gallery of photos of less adoptable pets here
